Challenge
turning a new technology into
core value
The commercial video market is booming and competitive, with many platforms linking creators and clients worldwide.
However, less experienced clients often need more guidance during the commissioning process.
Our goal was to explore how emerging AI technologies could provide this support while also fostering the growth of young video creators.

insight & strategy
end-to-end testing with wizard of oz
To evaluate product value and feasibility, we used a 'Wizard of Oz' prototype, simulating the service with human operators instead of software.
Working with real clients, we replicated the commissioning and production process.
Our research showed that generative AI can enhance pre-production.
solution
story builder
An intuitive tool that enables users to create high-quality, engaging video briefs with ease.
Users can refine and collaborate directly within the platform to ensure alignment with their vision.

my role
high-fi wireframing with ui in mind
I joined the project six months in, when the prototype was functional but lacked a few steps.
With the next milestone approaching, I had to design these screens from scratch.
Since no UI had been sold until this milestone, I had to adopt the UI perspective, besides UX. I had to focus on different states, edge cases, atomic component design, and grid-based layouts.
My first step
low fidelity wireframing
I received a list of functions, a partially working prototype and a presentation of the scope that was sold.
Given the tight timeline and large team, I began with low-fidelity wireframes and a flow to align with the project team and ensure I was heading in the right direction.

high fidelity wireframing
conversational interface
Our Principal UX designer and I mapped functions, data flows, blockers, and interactions, creating multiple rounds of high-fidelity wireframes.
We aligned closely with our Experience Director to stay updated on AI tools’ data flows.
The conversational interface introduced new, unique UX challenges, allow us to ideate and experiment on how users interact with the platform.

finishing touches
alignment
The Principal UX Designer and I delivered high-fidelity wireframes and a prototype to the client on time, refining the design based on their feedback.
Meanwhile, we worked on the software architecture, mapping out functions and screens with the developers as they started building the MVP.

support deck
The Principal UX Designer and I created an additional support deck in case of any issues with the prototype.
At this point, my role was complete, and I moved on to a new project, but the initiative continued to thrive.

challenges and
key learnings
This project had a tight deadline, and I faced challenges due to a lack of information and limited visual references.
Extensive collaboration with my team, developers and the client was essential to navigate the novel approach and evolving AI tools and frequent changes in functionality.
Despite the challenges - I enjoyed every moment, embracing the fresh perspectives and unique opportunities the project offered.

Summary
Outcome
We helped the client and Dentsu network partners understand the core functionality and value of the product, guiding decisions on which features to include, exclude, or refine for the MVP.
Our designs and low-code prototype provided the foundation for the developed features and software architecture.
Limited source code access in low-code needed the development of an MVP.
